SUMMARY:One Very Superior Party
DESCRIPTION:“One Very Superior Party: In Which Mrs. Elton Shows the Inhabitants of Highbury ‘How Everything Ought to Be Arranged’” \nPresented by Kim Wilson\n\nIn Jane Austen’s Emma\, snobbish Mrs. Elton criticizes the society parties held in Emma’s village of Highbury and plans to host “one very superior party” to show how a truly elegant party should be held. This informative talk\, accompanied by amusing illustrations of Regency-era parties\, games\, foods\, and table settings\, will show participants what Regency parties would have looked like and how they can easily re-create one at home. \nKim Wilson is a writer\, speaker\, editor\, tea lover\, gardening enthusiast\, and culinary historian\, and is a life member of the Jane Austen Society of North America. She is the author of At Home with Jane Austen\, Tea with Jane Austen\, and In the Garden with Jane Austen. She is currently having fun using very large quantities of butter\, sugar\, and cream while testing the recipes for the new book she is writing\, Entertaining Mr. Darcy. She regularly speaks to groups in-person and virtually\, including at many Jane Austen festivals\, JASNA AGMs\, and regional JASNA events. \nRegister Here:
