“My idea of good company, Mr. Elliot, is the company of clever well-informed people, who have a great deal of conversation;
that is what I call good company.” —Persuasion, Chapter 16
Welcome to the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) Maryland Region
Everyone who has an interest in Jane Austen and her times can become a member of JASNA – scholarly credentials are not needed. To become a member of JASNA, please visit the Join page.
JASNA MD meets in-person and virtually several times a year. Virtual meetings allow not only our local Maryland, DC and Virginia members to attend events, but also those from across the U.S. and Canada and around the world.
Active members of JASNA are welcome to attend our meetings. Non-members can attend one meeting to see if they are interested, but make sure to visit Join for more information about membership if you would like to continue participating.
The Program Planning Committee works hard to plan educational and entertaining events. Our Past Events page highlights previous events. Current events and registration information can be found at Meetings & Events. Members will also receive emails (usually monthly) about upcoming activities.
Looking for some Austen-themed or -related things? Visit the Emporium and peruse our merchandise. JASNA MD is also a 501(c)(3), so please consider making a donation to support our activities, too.
